Honoured to share the news that I’ve been shortlisted for the Lieutenant Governor’s Arts Award in the category of Saskatchewan Artist. The award will be given out at a gala evening in Regina SK, Sept 21. In the meantime, to conjure up some good luck please cross fingers, toes and anything else cross-able. Merci.

oh lordy - the show in Vancouver this Thurs night was excellent - the Libra Room on Commercial was packed to capacity/standing room only and we were delighted with the Vancouver support! (we had a special sing-along from the Maple Leaf singers and a drum cameo from young Spencer!!!) Then Fri PARKS ALIVE hosted us at an outdoor show on the shore of Lake Okanagan and it was a gr8 time including: a spontaneous opera singer, UBC cheer-leaders joining us on-stage, dancers, hundreds of people singing along and more. So great to see a city come out and check out live indie music in the heart of their community. Sat was Okanagan pride and we had a wicked time again at this growing festival. Vernon is Sunday and can’t wait. In short - WE LOVE BC!!!!! will be so sad to leave.

I had the privilege of meeting the uber talented Buffy Sainte Marie this weekend at a festival that I played at with my band. She headlined the night I played with her amazing band from Winnipeg. Her performance moved me beyond words and I’ll blog about it when I figure it out! but for now - check out the photo I’ve posted on facebook!

BIG SHOW as part of the Saskatchewan Festival of Words!!! This coming SAT JULY 17 - Mae Wilson Theatre Moose Jaw SK. 830pm. Tickets are $25 bucks. This theatre is my favorite big room to perform on the prairies - I call it the ‘Carnegie Hall of the Prairies’. incredibly beautiful. Jeffery’s tune, ‘Somewhere Between’ hit the airwaves with Regina’s LITE 92 FM in mid-June. DJ Trent Allen aired an interview with Jeffery and then played his tune on the afternoon drive. They liked the tune AND they liked your support for it. As a result they have now added it to their play-list. an amazing 24 hrs in Vancouver!

I spent May 30 (just past) in Vancouver. I had the pleasure of being able to hear a 50+ voice choir (The Maple Leaf Singers) sing an arrangement of my song ‘Slippery Slope’ - it was amazing! They had heaps of fans in the theatre (700 or so? insane!) and their concert was so great. It was the first time this tune had been set to choral arrangement and the 6 part harmony was stunning! (thanks to Wilson Fowlie for the arrangement) Then, that evening I performed a crazily memorable house concert - hosted by the most incredible couple, Ken and Marilyn Rushton. They opened their house to host the musical evening and were ‘hosts with the most’. They set up the piano with the HUGE GLASS wall behind it so you could see the mountains and all the lush Vancouver greenery in the background. With some of the choir in attendance as well, there were some very cool accompanying vocals for some of the tunes. what a day! Then 24 hours after arriving in town, I hopped the jet back East. Thanks to Wilson and Heather Fowlie for scheming this whole thing up, the Rushtons for hosting the concert, and thanks to Andrew for the airport pick up and the GREAT breakfast by the seaside in Richmond! Hope we can somehow do this again sometime. Thank-you for the music.
